"Refined coconut oil is what remains after the aroma and natural goodness are processed out. Virgin coconut oil is what was inside the fresh coconut - before any of that happened."

Why Virgin Coconut Oil - Specifically

First Press. Natural Goodness. Nothing Removed.

Virgin coconut oil is different from regular commercial coconut oil in one simple way - it has never been chemically refined, bleached, or deodorised. That refining process is what makes store-bought coconut oil odourless and tasteless - and it removes the natural good fats, the natural protective compounds and the coconut aroma in the process. Shahji virgin coconut oil skips all of that. First cold-press of fresh coconut meat, settled naturally, and sealed. The aroma, the natural goodness, the real coconut flavour - all intact.

Zero Chemical Refining

Commercially refined coconut oil is chemically processed to remove colour, odour, and impurities - and in doing so strips out the natural good fats and protective compounds that make coconut oil useful. Shahji virgin coconut oil skips that entirely. Zero chemical refining. Zero bleaching. Zero deodorising. Cold-press of fresh coconut, settled naturally, sealed.

No Solvents · First Press Only

No solvents are used at any stage of extraction. Cold-pressing uses only mechanical pressure to extract oil from fresh coconut. Lower yield than solvent extraction, but nothing unwanted in the oil. Virgin grade also means only the first press qualifies - subsequent pressing produces lower-quality oil that needs chemical treatment to be usable.

Naturally Rich in Good Fats

Virgin coconut oil is naturally rich in the good fats that coconut is known for - they make up about half the oil and are responsible for its well-known skin and hair benefits. Commercial refining reduces these natural fats. Cold-pressed virgin coconut oil keeps them fully intact - confirmed by testing in every batch.

Cooking, Skin & Hair - All Three

Virgin coconut oil is the most versatile oil in the range - it works across cooking (suitable for light sautéing and baking), skincare (direct skin moisturiser), and hair care (scalp massage, pre-wash oil, frizz control). One bottle that genuinely does all three - because the natural goodness that makes each use possible has not been processed out.

Cleaned. Cold-Pressed. Settled. Sealed.

Fresh coconut is cleaned and cold-pressed without heat or chemicals - first press only. The oil is allowed to settle naturally, lab tested for purity, then sealed. What you receive is exactly what the first press produces - nothing more, nothing less.

Fresh, high-quality mature coconuts selected for Shahji virgin cold-pressed oil extraction

नारियल - Coconut

Fresh Coconut · Prepared

Fresh coconut is prepared and cleaned before pressing. No drying, no flaking, no chemical pre-treatment. The coconut goes into the press fresh - this is the key distinction of virgin coconut oil. Dried coconut can be used in commercial refining; fresh coconut cold-pressing is what produces the superior virgin grade.

Traditional cold-pressing of fresh coconut to preserve natural nutrients and aroma

कच्ची घाणी - Cold Press

Virgin Grade · Cold Press Only

Fresh coconut is cold-pressed - cold press only, no heat generated, no solvents used. The oil flows clear and aromatic from the press. Virgin grade means only the cold press qualifies - subsequent pressing with heat or chemicals produces lower-quality oil. Shahji uses only cold-press virgin oil.

स्थिरीकरण - Settling

Natural Settling · Unrefined

Freshly pressed oil settles naturally. No bleaching. No deodorising. No chemical treatment. The natural coconut aroma, the white colour at cool temperatures and all the natural goodness are fully preserved. What settles is what gets bottled - nothing is removed at this stage to make the oil look or smell different from what nature produced.

What You See in the Bottle

The Coconut Smell Is the Proof.

Open Shahji Virgin Coconut Oil and the first thing you notice is the aroma - a clean, unmistakable coconut smell. First-time buyers switching from commercial coconut oil often ask whether this is normal or a sign of something wrong. Here is the answer:

The coconut smell is natural - it is present in all genuine virgin coconut oil because nothing was done to remove it. Commercial refining specifically deodorises coconut oil to take away this smell - producing the odourless product most people are used to. If the oil smells of coconut, it was not deodorised. That smell is the proof of virgin grade. If the oil has no smell, it was refined.

Frequently asked questions

Virgin coconut oil is made from fresh coconuts, whereas regular coconut oil is often produced from dried coconut meat (copra) and then refined. Virgin coconut oil is extracted without bleaching, deodorising, or chemical refining, which helps preserve its natural aroma and character. The result is a fresher, more natural oil with the authentic fragrance of coconut.

Yes. Our virgin coconut oil is produced from fresh coconuts rather than dried copra. Fresh coconut is processed into coconut milk, from which the oil is carefully separated using a low-temperature process. This is what gives virgin coconut oil its distinctive aroma, purity, and premium quality.

Yes. Our virgin coconut oil is food-grade and suitable for everyday consumption. It can be used in cooking, baking, smoothies, salad dressings, and many traditional recipes. Every batch is independently tested before dispatch to verify purity and quality.

Yes. Virgin coconut oil is suitable for everyday cooking, sautéing, roasting, and baking. It naturally imparts a mild coconut aroma and flavour to food, which many people enjoy. It is commonly used in South Indian cooking, baking, and health-focused recipes.

Yes. Virgin coconut oil has traditionally been used for hair care, scalp massage, and skin moisturising. Because it is minimally processed and free from chemical refining, many customers choose to use the same bottle for both personal care and culinary purposes.

This is completely natural. Virgin coconut oil begins to solidify below approximately 24°C because of its natural fatty acid composition. The oil may appear white and semi-solid during cooler weather and return to a clear liquid when temperatures rise. This does not affect quality, purity, or safety.

Yes. Genuine virgin coconut oil retains the natural aroma of fresh coconuts because it has not been deodorised during refining. The fragrance is mild, pleasant, and naturally coconut-like. If a coconut oil has little or no aroma, it has usually been refined and deodorised.
